Sense of Humor

A Sense of Humor
You Must Have
To Keep You on Your Toes
Its Energy Rids the Daily Woes
Oh the Wonders of Creation
A God-given Gift
To Feed Your Happy Soul

Laughter is the best medicine. Laughter’s powerful force creates positive physical, emotional, and mental energy. Humor releases pressure and is an antidote to any pain or stress. When you laugh, you feel lighthearted. If you can laugh at yourself or see the humor in a difficult situation, then you will find “happy” wisdom.

So Says Maggy

Shirley’s Interpretation for Sense of Humor

In the rolling bluffs just outside Grafton, Illinois, overlooking the scenic Illinois River, was Pere Marquette State Park Lodge where I had planned to spend the next five days for law enforcement training classes. The Lodge was the centerpiece for the 8,000 acres of parkland filled with stunning natural beauty. When I entered the Lodge, the first thing I noticed was the pleasing way native stone and rustic timber was used in the design of the building. The heritage resonating from the setting instantly made me feel calm and at home.

On the final day of the classes, we were requested to complete a self-evaluation. I was assigned to Professor Thorelson from Minnesota. I eagerly sat across from him in a room, wondering what my strengths and weaknesses were, while he shuffled papers on his desk. “You have received high scores in all subjects,” he began, “but there is one matter we need to discuss. Through our observations, it appears you have no fear. Without fear, there is no caution. This can make some situations dangerous.”

I sat back in my chair and said, “There was one time I remember being scared. I was eleven. My grandmother had invited me to spend the night at her two-story house. I slept upstairs by myself. She tucked me in and I immediately feel asleep. A few hours later, I woke up and saw a man hovering over from the other side of the room. I crawled down to the foot of the bed and watched closely to see if he moved. He continued to stay at the same spot, so I pulled the covers over my head. Lying there in the dark, I thought, ‘what is he going to do? Could he be the devil or a mass murderer?’ I gradually pulled the covers down. He still hadn’t moved. As the sun began to rise, I saw it was my uncle’s army coat hanging from the corner. I had spent the night too frightened to get up and see what it was. I allowed my mind to create a fear and it was only an illusion.”

I believe one can choose to learn from an awareness of fear, and learn to trust one’s intuition. Trust allows one to laugh, and this energy is more productive and in the long run safer than allowing fear to control. In trusting myself, I allow the Universe, Guides and Angels to help provide needed assistance for my protection. I understand the importance in living in the now, and when I get a feeling of “butterflies” in my tummy, I know it is time to take a deep breath before making a decision. It is necessary to pay attention to that initial “gut hunch” before proceeding.

Fear can hold one back from accomplishing one’s mission. It can be a painful emotion, excited by the expectation of evil, or the apprehension of impending danger, apprehension, anxiety, alarm, dread. My mentor, Maggy, taught me how to balance fear with a good sense of humor. Fear is not knowing the truth of a situation. Facing the unknown can elicit fear. Such fear may cause anger, jealousy, hate, and in some cases, illness. Laughter, on the other hand, summons the coordination of many muscles and relaxes the body. It boosts the immune system more than any other “medicine” and sets you on the road to good health and a clear mind.

Professor Thorelson patted my hand after I told him my story, and said, “What we call fear you call ‘butterflies.’ It is obviously a healthy way to outsmart stress and live a happier life. I can see that developing your abilities beyond the five senses assists your work on multi-levels, especially in a dangerous situation.”

Earth is experiencing a tremendous shift in energy needed to clean out the old and bring in the new. The 9.0 earthquake and tsunami on December 26, 2004, are reminders of how strong nature truly is. The Hopi Indians have known for centuries that there would come a time when a faster and new frequency of energy would “speed” up earth-time. I thought about this as I watched a scientist on television talk about the earthquake being so powerful that it disturbed earth’s orbit. He said that earth “lost three minutes” during this event, minutes that we would never get back, causing earth’s rotation to be faster. The Hopis said that when this happens, people must learn to live in the now, watch their thoughts, take care of earth, be of Love and Truth. The new energy will intensify everything. People must realize Earth is what WE THINK, because OUR THOUGHTS are that powerful.
